Urambo District Council Job Vacancies September 2026 – 4 Positions
Urambo District Council has announced four (4) job vacancies for qualified Tanzanian citizens. The vacancies have been approved by the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance.
Qualified and eligible Tanzanians are invited to apply for the following positions:
1. DRIVER II – 3 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Inspecting the vehicle before and after every journey to ensure that it is safe for use.
- Transporting government employees to various destinations on official duties.
- Carrying out minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Maintaining and recording all journeys in the vehicle logbook.
- Collecting and distributing various documents.
- Cleaning and maintaining the vehicle.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have a Form IV Certificate of Secondary Education.
- Possess a valid Class E or Class C Driving Licence.
- Have at least one (1) year of driving experience without causing an accident.
- Possess certificates of driving training that enabled them to obtain the relevant driving licence class.
- Have completed a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or another institution recognized by the Government.

2. OFFICE ASSISTANT II / SECRETARY II – 1 POST

Urambo District Council is also inviting applications for one (1) Office Assistant II / Secretary II position, which is being re-advertised.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Typing ordinary and confidential letters, reports and other documents.
- Receiving visitors, listening to their needs and directing them to the appropriate office or person.
- Maintaining records of events, appointments, visitors, meeting dates, official trips of the supervisor and other work schedules.
- Searching for files and documents required for the execution of duties.
- Receiving files and distributing them to officers in the relevant department, unit or section.
- Collecting, maintaining and returning files and documents to their respective locations.
- Arranging agenda items and making preparations for various meetings.
- Preparing lists of required office equipment and supplies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Form IV or Form VI education together with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies, or
- NTA Level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies.
- Passed Kiswahili and English shorthand/typing at a speed of 100 words per minute.
- Computer skills in common office applications, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Internet
- Publisher
- Computer training obtained from a Government-recognized institution.

General Conditions for All Applicants
Applicants must carefully observe the following conditions:
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.

- Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure that their certificates have been verified and authenticated by the relevant authorities, including TCU, NECTA or NACTVET, where applicable.
- Retired public servants are not permitted to apply unless they have obtained permission from the Chief Secretary.
- Applicants for Driver II positions who possess Class E or C driving licences must attach the driving training certificates that qualified them to obtain the relevant licence class.
- Applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions within the Public Service should not apply and must follow the instructions contained in Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30 November 2010.
- Applicants who submit forged information or fraudulent qualifications will face legal action.
- Candidates whose names differ across their documents must submit a registered Deed Poll for change of name issued through the appropriate authority.
