Chunya District Council Job Vacancies September 2026 – 14 Positions
Chunya District Council has announced 14 job vacancies for qualified Tanzanian citizens following approval from the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG). The vacancies are available for Drivers and Office Secretary/Office Operators as detailed below.
1.0 DRIVER II – 9 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Inspecting the vehicle before and after journeys to ensure that it is safe for use.
- Driving government employees to various destinations on official duties.
- Carrying out minor vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Maintaining and recording the vehicle logbook for all journeys.
- Collecting and distributing various documents.
- Keeping the vehicle clean.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Form IV (CSEE) Certificate.
- A valid Class E or Class C driving licence.
- At least one (1) year of driving experience without causing an accident.
- Relevant certificates from recognized training institutions qualifying the applicant for the respective driving class.
- A Basic Driving Course certificate obtained from VETA or another government-recognized institution.

2.0 OFFICE SECRETARY II – 5 POSTS
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Typing letters, reports and ordinary or confidential documents.
- Receiving visitors, listening to their needs and directing them to the appropriate offices for assistance.
- Maintaining records of events, appointments, visitors, meeting dates, official journeys and work schedules of the supervisor.
- Retrieving files and documents required for the performance of duties.
- Receiving files and distributing them to officers in the relevant department, unit or section.
- Collecting, maintaining and returning files and documents to their appropriate locations.
- Preparing agenda items and making arrangements for various meetings.
- Preparing office requisition and requirements lists.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Form IV or Form VI Certificate.
- A Diploma in Secretarial Studies or NTA Level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies from a government-recognized institution.
- Passed the Shorthand and Typewriting examinations in both Kiswahili and English at a speed of 100 words per minute.
- Computer skills and training in office applications such as:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Internet
- Microsoft Publisher

General Conditions for All Applicants
Applicants are required to observe the following conditions:
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged 18 to 45 years.

- Retired public servants are not allowed to apply unless they have obtained permission from the Chief Secretary.
- Applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions within the Public Service should not apply and must comply with the relevant government instructions concerning such applications.
- Submission of forged information or qualifications will result in legal action.
